Had a few bad hours tonight where I couldn’t write anything (or read, or hell, even play a videogame without feeling shitty) and thought about quitting for the evening and just going to bed. But then I started another side-scene just because. It helped, and I got over 600 words already (yay!), plus more backstory I didn’t know about. I’ll finish polishing it up tomorrow and putting it online soon after. Scene 3 goes back to Clandestina and features Pierre’s father, Félicien. I’m going to try and aim for a different realm for the next few scenes though- I can’t just keep my head filled with necrocræft and fairies.
I don’t think I’ll be able to keep this pace of a Scene a Day up, but so far (after stalling for weeks) I seem to be getting into the rhythm of writing something short on a mostly-daily basis. A scene a week isn’t going to be extreme and may be something I can keep up longer term (gives time to draft, edit a little, and make sure the continuity fits without over-doing it).
In terms of stuff being online, Larkspur has also been put up on wattpad! It is the entire novelette, broken into 8 ‘chapters,’ and you can comment on and/or star each chapter assuming you have an account. I don’t know if there’ll be any readers to gain, but since it’s already free on Amazon and B&N, I thought I might as well put it up there too. I’ve read some good stories on the site and I love the idea of sharing writing. There was one more site I used that was quite similar, I want to say it had the word ‘ink’ in it? I can’t remember it for the life of me, but I’ll put Larkspur there too once I figure it out.
