Book II

I really need to get Delphinium out. Larkspur’s sales have peaked, and even though it’s not even been 3 months yet, I already feel like ‘hey I wrote a book!’ is getting old. I don’t want to spam people, I want people to read my stuff because they like that sort of thing. My Facebook Party has 18 confirmed guests, and my sales are at 132- so it seems people are at least a little interested.

But I won’t be able to keep anyone’s interests with a short novelette and no sequel.

I moved the facebook release date to the 30th, just so it wouldn’t stay on the 20th, but I think I can hit that. The extra week is giving me a lot more breathing room, even accounting for an exam I have to take on the 23rd. I’m essentially home alone for the next two weeks (family in Poland, and while brother is at home, he’s out a lot) and won’t have many distractions aside from keeping the house not-on-fire. Now just not to get sucked into procrastination.

Larkspur will still be free on the 20th and 21st, going on to Nook, Kobo and other platforms the 22nd.

Digital Book Today!

I made my first paid marketing decision. For the next two weeks Larkspur will be on Digital Book Today’s romance page – http://digitalbooktoday.com/romance/ Hopefully it’ll bump it back up to a more steady flow of sales. If not that, the release of Delphinium should help.

I am writing Delphinium, slower than I’d hoped, but it is on its way. So far I still think I can hit the scheduled release date. Have a fair amount of homework to do today as well, so I’ll be busy with one or the other.

Facebook Release Party!

(Was going to wait until I wrote today’s 3K, but I’ve barely started.. so I’m going to do this and then go write).

I’m told this is a thing! So Delphinium’s going to be released on June 20th, and as a part of my ‘you have to do it, people know’ plan, I’ve also set up a Facebook Event. It’s open to the public, anyone can join, and I freely encourage questions and/or chatter. I’ll probably work out a thing where I give away a free copy or two, maybe of Larkspur and maybe the upcoming Delphinium. Please do join, and ‘invite’ anyone else who might be interested or interesting!

Delphinium Release Date!

I’m going to take the risk and announce my ~release date for Delphinium: A Necromancer’s Love–

June 20th, 2014 ❤

KDP Select ends on Larkspur the 21st, and so for the last two days (20th and 21st) I’m going to have Larkspur set to FREE. By that point I want there to be a link in the back pointing to Delphinium (which will NOT be in Select). After the 21st I’ll put both books on to other platforms like Kobo and B&N.

I’m writing this post for two reasons- hype, and motivation. The only reason I managed to get Larkspur done is because I set a publish date and *had* to stick to it. So I’m going to do this again with Delphinium, knowing there are at least a few folk who are waiting for the release.

Writing Day

I have a tentative date for Delphinium’s release (those signed up for the newsletter know the ‘about this time’ date already 😉 No hard promises yet though). But to hit it I have to start working *today.* Boyfriend’s visiting friends in Florida now, and my summer classes are relatively low intensity, so it’s writing time. No distractions.

Right now I’m at 4403 words– not a lot at all sadly. The goal is ~30K to ~35K, at least double Larkspur and hopefully longer. The good news is is that I have an outline, and I know far more about what I’m doing than when I was attempting the first book. I know I can hit a few thousand words a day, and at least the first time I set a public release date with Larkspur I hit it. Plus now I have far more people actually interested in my work. No pressure, right? 🙂

100 copies!

I have officially sold 100 copies of Larkspur: A Necromancer’s Romance 😀 I’m super happy and excited! Most of the sales are US, but a good percent is UK, and some up in Canada, and over from Amazon.de

The plot of Delphinium is blooming nicely (get it, flower pun) and writing it is going well. Loving the new thing I do where I outline, or as the selfpublishingpodcast guys call it, writing out the scenes as beats.

Hope everyone’s having a great start to summer ❤

Summertime work

Everything is done! Now I have.. one week until things get hectic again.

Plenty of time! (No, I am not saying Delphinium will be out in a week. Writing it asap, but don’t have a date set yet.)

Today I listened to more of the self-publishing podcast, and made the cover for book 4 – Regalis. Yup, the Larkspur Series is not a trilogy, it’s actually six planned books. Though I suppose the two halves are different enough that you could call them a duo of trilogies. Here’s the cover:

(The more covers I make, the more I love them. I think Regalis is my favourite. Going from a ‘blood in the painting’ to ‘blood on a photo’ sort of theme.)

Regalis is actually a fairly common species name. There are many plants, insects and such that are called ___ regalis. Consolida regalis is one of them- the field larkspur.

Now, how about Delphinium? Well, I am writing it. It should be 30-35K, more than double the first story. Far more plot threads are appearing, the rest of life is starting to crowd Pierre’s time and privacy. There is more revealed about magic, the land, even some of the neighboring places as well.

I have tea, I’ll be up tonight writing and maybe get into more details in another post.

Ah, and I’ve also decided on a subtitle. At first ‘A Necromancer’s Romance’ was just a subtitle for Larkspur so that people would know about the content. I thought I would eventually take it off and just call it ‘Larkspur’ (and I usually just refer to it as such). But I’m starting to like the explanatory phrase, it’s rather like old exactly what it says on the tin titles. (Warning: TV Tropes link)

Book II is therefore Delphinium: A Necromancer’s Love

(Yes, I’m still using necro-mancer. It’s easier, everyone knows what I mean even if it isn’t the in-universe term. Pierre might just do a little bit of necromancy so I can call it that without feeling bad about breaking canon.)
